July 2016 Newsletter

Goodbye June, Hello July!

July always feels like the happiest month in London. With the Sporting Season well under way, there is such a positive energy and feeling of patriotism in the air. South Molton Street where my clinic is based is one of a number of places to have installed a very British Pimms Pop-Up for all eager fans to watch the tennis games outside until Sunday 10th July.

These types of Pop-ups are just one of the many things I love about London. They are starting to replace actual restaurants and stores, as brands look for new, quirky and exciting ways to promote themselves and keep up with the creative and expectant London clientele. They offer a fun meeting place with friends and offer complete variety. Dare I say they have almost become a trend!

I know I often mention how trends can come and go, especially in the beauty world, but one that has stuck for a long time is the ‘Ombre’ look. As soon as the Hollywood A-listers were spotted with their ‘dipped’ blonde tresses, the trend exploded and is still one of the most popular hair styles for the summer months and it’s even popular on your nails and now lips.

The latest look seen on the catwalks is a red/pink ‘Ombre’ lip that I just love, a bold statement that can dress up any LBD and replace the need for jewellery. Although fashion statements like these have such a huge impact on the cosmetic and beauty industry, lots of people will ask if a fashion trend like the ‘Ombre lip look’ can be replicated with Permanent Make-Up. Personally, I would always recommend going for something classical and as natural as possible instead of following a trend that might be out of fashion next season. Cosmetic make-up can be wiped away after a day of looking fabulous but you should always keep in mind that permanent make-up has a long-term effect and therefore should complement your features long-term.

I offer my clients a wide choice of pigments to choose from and I make sure the lip line never looks ‘drawn on.’ This means you can wear no lipstick at all or just add a slick of lip gloss to complement the treated lip area and the opportunity to still experiment with a variety of colours by applying this on top when you go out.

The ‘Ombre eyebrow look’ has also taken the industry by storm and is a great option for someone who longs for a bolder brow with the view that it still simulates a natural looking brow. ‘Ombre’ eyebrows are designed to have a softer start which then graduates into a stronger more noticeable ‘brow body’ before tapering into a softer brow-tail. This look can be replicated with Permanent Make-Up but should only be considered if this suits you as an individual. For more information on the ‘Ombre’ Eyebrows please contact us directly.
