Skin Deep…
I waved my girls’ goodbye as they headed off for their final day at Nursery earlier this month…How did that happen already? How time flies! Now my husband and I have 6 glorious (and slightly dreaded) weeks ahead of us where we need to keep our girls entertained! If anyone has any fun recommendations on how to keep two princesses smiling everyday, then please do tell me! As a couple who both work, the summer holidays can be challenging to manage but we have decided that we will take it in turns to spend quality time with our girls and honestly, we can’t wait.
We will be spending the summer holidays in beautiful Britain this year which takes a bit more planning to keep my little busy-bees occupied, but for those of you who are heading abroad and are keen to spend more time splashing in the pool with your little ones, than reapplying your make-up, please do get in touch with us! Whether you are sunning yourself in Ibiza or glamping in Cornwall, I always feel it’s nice to take a break from wearing make-up, in particular, mascara, eyeliner, lipstick etc. and with Permanent Make-Up, you can allow yourself to be natural without the barrier of feeling self-conscious. I recommend having a treatment at least a week before you go away, to allow the area to fully heal and so you can enjoy your holiday without worrying.
It’s always nice when I receive photos of my beautiful clients make-up free after having one of my treatments. My lovely client Ciara Bagge, pictured below, recently had a Permanent Make-up Eyebrow Treatment before she went to Thailand. As the humidity is so high there, that she wanted to relax knowing she didn’t have to keep re-applying her eyebrow pencil every day.
Wearing foundations, concealers and powders every day is also not the best recipe for clear skin. Especially if you work in London where pollution levels are higher. Allowing your skin time to breathe and soak in some Vitamin D (in sensible and protected doses) is so important. I think like many of us, I am guilty of not spending enough time on my skin care regime so I have been looking in to some beauty classes that might help me to understand my complexion better.
I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Justina Juchnevicitute at Gazelli House in South Kensington, recently and she told me they are hosting a very interesting event on the 10th August. Their skin expert Valerjia, will lead an interactive one hour session where you will learn how to read your skin, recognise and address any concerns you may have, whilst hearing about the latest techniques, technologies and formulations all designed to keep your skin glowing. I also hear there will be tea and healthy canapés on offer. This class sounds perfect for a novice but could also be a good way to get pre-holiday ready.
If like us, you won’t be able to get abroad this summer, then please don’t fret! There are plenty of beautiful places to visit in the UK to get some much-needed R&R whilst treating your skin to some serious TLC! Here are a few of my top Spa’s in London alone:
The Bulgari Spa
Although more on the expensive side, the Bulgari spa inside the Knightsbridge hotel, boasts one of the most glamorous spas in the City. Arranged over two levels, this urban oasis of tranquillity, has a 25m swimming pool, vitality pool entirely covered by gold leaf tiles, 11 private treatment rooms, one double spa suite, complete with its own steam room, jacuzzi and private treatment room, and a 150m² fitness area.
House of Elemis
“The non-spa spa.” There may not be a plunge pool here but the House of Elemis in Mayfair is the creative heart of Elemis skincare. Their Spa consists of the ‘Speed Spa’ which delivers a condensed and curated blast of the world-renowned Elemis Expertise with ‘maximum results in minimum time’ concept and the ‘Private Penthouse’ where you and your guests can enjoy treatments in a private setting, whilst sipping on a bottle of Champagne and munching on strawberries. How divine.
My close friend Cate and I are treating ourselves to a pampering day here as a joint birthday present on the 18th August. I can’t wait for the perfect girlie afternoon!
Cowshed at Selfridges
If you don’t have time for a facial but crave a catch up with a friend over a mani/pedi, then head to Cowshed at Selfridges where you can relax in one of their lovely chairs before browsing the latest fashion.
And of course, last but by no means least, is the Harpenden Skin Clinic, an aesthetic clinic, owned by the very talented Janne. They specialise in skin rejuvenation, chemical peels, laser technology and anti-ageing treatments (Botox/fillers). One of their very latest offerings though, focuses on the body and it’s an absolute must if you want to look hot hot hot, in that summer bikini!
Accent Prime at the Harpenden Skin Clinic
Accent Prime offers customised treatments for facial and body contouring, skin tightening, cellulite reduction and skin rejuvenation that reveal your natural beauty contours- with visible, reliable and lasting results. It uses a combination of technologies, the Accent workstation is designed to eliminate excess fat and loose skin to visibly improve the shape and contours of the body.
The synergy of ultrasound and Radio Frequency technologies achieves superior results to those of either technology on its own. Cold ultrasound shear waves selectively destroy fat cells, while UniPolar RF accelerates their metabolism, for fast lymphatic drainage. The application of RF heat energy, following fat destruction, promotes tightening of the skin, improving its texture while generating new collagen.
Ideally a course of 6 treatments as a minimum is necessary to start seeing great results so make sure you book your free consultation (01582 822 000) sooner rather than later!
Just thinking about all these relaxing and rejuvenating treatments has me almost in trance! I am so excited to spend some quality time with my family this month and embrace August, before I blink and September arrives.
I look forward to speaking to you all next month when I will be touching on the poignant subject of Alopecia, as it is Awareness Month.
Have a lovely summer everyone, however you may spend it!
